Chanel has entered the clean beauty space, here’s what we think A G+S Review of No.1 De Chanel
The G+S-approved results-driven, non-toxic tinted moisturisers
An everyday staple, tinted moisturizers need not come with nasty chemical side effects, with the ever-growing range of results-driven, clean beauty offerings on the market. Whether you’re after an ultra-sheer barely-there tint, or that little bit of extra coverage, we’ve tried and tested the best on the market and bring you our G+S approved list.
A blend of native Australian extracts including Kakadu Plum, Snowflower and Desert Lime gives this medium-coverage tinted moisturiser its lovely botanical scent. A medium coverage with built-in SPF, the lightweight formula is almost mousse like in texture and gives enough coverage for everyday wear, but still feels as light and breathable on the skin as a moisturizer. For our money, this could be the best natural all-rounder out there.
Best for: Medium coverage, physical sun protection
More moisturiser than foundation, this rose-scented formula feels rich and nourishing, with its blend of plant ingredients including avocado and almond oil, rosewax, quince and St John’s Wort. The universal tint blends in beautifully and leaves skin with an even, all-over glow. With just enough pigment to even out imperfections, but not enough to make it look too made up, this is a winner for that elusive makeup-free appearance.
Best for: Sheer tint, hydration, sensitive skin
Not technically a tinted moisturizer, this multi-tasking BB formula from Inika Organic boasts a high concentration (80 per cent) of organic ingredients, and uses a base of organic oils including jojoba, prickly pear, pomegranate and avocado to achieve a creamy consistency and smooth all-over coverage. As a BB, it provides more coverage than a tinted moisturizer and can be layered for full coverage. It goes on smoothly and dries to a radiant matte-finish, like a super lightweight foundation.
Best for: Medium to full coverage, matte-finish
Probably the top of our cult product list for 2021, this serum and tinted moisturiser in one is both hydrating and nourishing, whilst adding that after-sun looking glow we all love. Hero ingredients include hyaluronic acid to plump, plant based squalane to help balance and niacinamide to help smooth skin’s texture. Plus it comes in 30 different shades options.
Best for: High SPF, all round dewy glow
The multi-tasking KOSAS tinted face oil is touted as a hydrating skin elixir and can be applied as a daily serum, a moisturizer or can be layered to create a medium coverage base. Active botanicals and mineral pigments even skin tone and cover imperfections, and left our skin with a lovely clear radiance and dewy finish. A new offering in the clean-beauty space, tinted face oils fit perfectly into the hardworking multi-tasking beauty category, we’re predicting they’ll soon become a staple.
Best for: Hydration, universal coverage, multi-tasking
This is our co-founder Jenny’s current tinted moisturiser of choice, it’s a winner for all round coverage and glow, works wonderfully as a primer, but perhaps the clincher is 100 per cent of profits of the sale of the product go to partner charities, and it’s your choice who to support, WWF, Humpty Dumpty or Bowel Cancer Australia. It’s made in small batches so often sells out, our tip is to buy a couple when it’s available to tide you over between batches.
Best for: An everyday all-rounder
